As I read this chapter, I was reminded of the Master card commercial I posted above. The ad says to me, “It’s not the purchases that are valuable but the response received from the purchase.”

Looking For Love In All the Wrong Places

For as long as I can remember, I have only wanted to be a wife and a mommy. I daydreamed all my young life of a price love ~ of a special husband ~ and precious babies I would hold. I don’t know how many times I came up with names for my children. LOL!  And I must also admit, as Renee said, I am embarrassed at the things I would do to get a boy’s attention. I begged God to give me a husband, I thought about it day and night. I wondered why I had even attended college.

It took a while for me to learn that WHEN I first fill my life with Jesus; THEN fulfillment comes  God kept me waiting for his perfect timing. As I waited, I learned to become filled with Him. When I got to the point that I was fulfilled by God, then God fulfilled my prayers for a family and I was ready for the challenge to be a Godly Wife, Godly Mother, and now Godly Grandmother (G.G.).

The Void Was Filled

What I needed was Jesus filling my life to overflowing. A husband cannot fill the void. A child cannot fill the void. Friends cannot fill the void. The void in my life could not be filled … UNTIL it was first filled with Jesus’ love.

Like the country song, I have thanked the Lord many times for “Unanswered Prayers”.  God protected me from wrong choices, bad relationships, and wrong marriages so that everything could be right!

So how does that commercial go?

Husband: Wonderful

Children: Awesome

Ministry: Exciting

The Perfect Love of Christ: Priceless

my MASTER, CHRIST!

  4. Please share it. So many young girls have that Cinderella syndrome and they don’t understand that Prince Charming cannot fulfill them.

  5. I could have written this post myself. You aren’t kidding…thank you for unanswered prayer. He gave me the desires of my heart 🙂

  6. You are right, Mandy. Only God can fill our soul’s longing. We may think if we have just the right husband, just the right children, just the right…… then everything will be fine. But nothing can really satisfy except our Lord and Savior. Blessings to you!

  7. And often we don’t understand this until we are married and realize all the demands of life that come with marriage and family. The key is that we.must bloom where we are planted. God has us there for a reason.
