One of the best ways to learn scripture is through song. Think about it. We can recall every word of a song we loved from high school even after decades. Why not build a foundation of scriptures in your mind by setting them to music? There are many songs and choruses already out there. You may not even realize that the words are straight from the scriptures.
Here’s a hymn you probably knew years ago. I remember singing it as a child. I understood the idea of the hymn… about God being our foundation but recently I took a closer look at the words and was blown away at the number of scriptures found in this one song. Take a look for yourself…
How Firm a Foundation
How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
Is laid for your faith in His excellent word!
What more can He say than to you He hath said—
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?“Fear not, I am with thee, oh, be not dismayed,
For I am thy God, and will still give thee aid;
I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand,
Upheld by My gracious, omnipotent hand. [Isaiah 41:10]“When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
The rivers of sorrow shall not overflow;
For I will be with thee thy trouble to bless,
And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress. [Isaiah 43:2-3]“When through fiery trials thy pathway shall lie, [Isaiah 43:2-3]
My grace, all-sufficient, shall be thy supply; [2 Corinthians 12:9]
The flame shall not harm thee; I only design
Thy dross to consume and thy gold to refine. [Zechariah 13:9]“The soul that on Jesus doth lean for repose, [Proverbs 3:5-6]

I will not, I will not, desert to his foes; [Hebrews 13:5,6]
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never, no never, no never forsake.” [Deuteronomy 31:8]
